Celebrating Cultural Dishes from Around the World
Over the past few months, young people attending Choices have been exploring a wide variety of cultural dishes from around the world. Through these sessions, we have seen growing curiosity and confidence as children sampled new foods, including Chinese and Mexican cuisine.
These sessions have encouraged meaningful discussions about different cultures, with young people showing a keen interest in learning where dishes originate from and suggesting new countries and cuisines they would like to explore in future sessions.
As part of the activities, the groups have also enjoyed developing new dining skills, such as using chopsticks and learning how to roll fajitas. These hands-on experiences have been particularly beneficial in encouraging children who may previously have been reluctant to try unfamiliar foods.
In addition to exploring international cuisine, the young people have enjoyed celebrating cultural events, including Diwali. These sessions have provided valuable opportunities to promote cultural awareness, broaden experiences, and build confidence in a fun and engaging environment
