Pedal for Purpose fundraiser event
MYA hosted a community fundraising event chosen by the young people of Knowsley Youth Cabinet, raising £269.95 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity while collecting school uniform and food donations to support local families.
During the summer, MYA hosted a fantastic fundraising event to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which was chosen by the young people of Knowsley Youth Cabinet.
We also used the event as an opportunity to collect school uniform donations for our Clothes Hub and food donations for our Food Hub at MYA. These donations play an important role in helping us continue to support young people and families within our local community.
The event was filled with a variety of activities and fundraising opportunities. Our main challenge was to cycle 127 miles — the full length of the Liverpool and Leeds Canal — using two spin bikes and an arm bike, which was kindly loaned to us by Volair. We also had a cake stall, which was ran by the young people we work with, while also giving visitors the opportunity to make their own delicious smoothies on our smoothie bike!
We were delighted to be joined by the amazing team from Alder Hey, who hosted a fun and interactive stall to help us raise even more money. We also had a very special guest appearance from Oli the Elephant, Alder Hey’s much-loved mascot, who helped bring lots of excitement to the event.
We were incredibly grateful to receive a large donation of school uniforms from Livv Housing, which will help us support local families through our Clothes Hub.
Our young people showed fantastic determination and teamwork, reaching the full 127-mile target with an hour of the event still remaining!
By the end of the event, we had raised an incredible £269.95 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. We are extremely proud of everyone who contributed, from the young people and volunteers to our partner organisations and members of the local community.
